Love, Love, Love, Love

With the day of love coming up I thought it fitting to talk about the four types of love and give some little suggestions about how to nurture those loves this week. The four loves are in order: Love of Spirit, Love of Self, Love of a Partner, Love of Others. If you don’t have a partner you can do that part with your pet or child instead, and if you don’t have any of the above find someone different everyday to do or say something nice for, could be a co-worker or a stranger. Sounds simple enough so here is your Love Challenge of the Week!

Love of Spirit: Everyday this week make time, 10 to 20 minutes, to spend one on one time with the Spirit or God of your understanding. Whether that be quiet time in prayer, but try to make it a prayer of gratitude from the heart, or a peaceful moment in silent meditation. You could do something creative for Spirit, write a poem or song from your heart, where do you think all the praise and worship songs come from? Maybe learn a dance and have a prayerful moment of dance, this is a prayer form of moment dated way back in time. You could even light a candle dedicated to Spirit and count your blessings or honor and send love to those who have passed and your angels.

Love of Self: This week, everyday, find someone way to show yourself love. This could be treating yourself to a quiet moment with a good cup of coffee, soaking in a bathtub and just relaxing, exercising your body or do some yoga. You can also give your body love by make good and healthy food choices. You could go get a pedicure or manicure, or do them yourself, or even a massage or spa day. I suggest while doing any of these acts of self love that you do them in a prayer and loving way to honor yourself. God gave you and amazing gift of taking care of His child, YOU, so do that this week. Show yourself some love and be gentle with yourself, no body can love you like you can.

Love of a Partner: If you have a partner this week why not some them love all week long instead of waiting until V-Day? Do something nice for them everyday this week. Leave them a sweet love note in their lunch or somewhere they will find it. Spend 10 or 20 minutes alone with them just talking without distractions, as in, no television and while you’re eating doesn’t count. Ask them how their day was or what their goals in life are, just really try to connect. A suggestion made to me the other day by Angel Coach,  Terryee,  ask your partner to share 3 things they are thankful about from the day and you do so also. This is like the 3 blessings daily spiritual work from my blog series 7 Gifts from God, however this way you get to incorporate your partner into it also.

Love of Others: One of the hardest things to do is to love others, especially if they know how to make you made and push your buttons. Your challenge this week for others is to show them love. This could be a parent, a child, a sibling, a friend, a co-worker or a stranger. Send them a valentine note or give them a call, show and tell them that you love them in some way. If someone upsets you this week stay conscious and choose love instead of anger or hate. If a family member pushes your buttons just tell them you love them too much to give them the reaction they are looking for, not only will you feel better but that person will probably be a little shocked!

So that’s the Love Challenge of the Week for Valentine’s Day week. I hope you enjoy and remember to do participate. Set a reminder in your phone to go off everyday this week to help you remember to choose love. I look forward to hearing about how your challenge is going and remember you can do this anytime, not just the week of V-day. Good luck! Love & Blessings!
